INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLICATION:

  1. The instruction pages should be retained for your information.
  2. The printed pages of the Application Form should be completed by the applicant and returned tothe Political Science Department, (Willis 402) by April 30, 2000.
  3. LETTER OF REFERENCE should be given to faculty members who can attest to the student's academic performance, motivation, and ability to work in a group. Please ask the referee to complete the form and request that the form be sent DIRECTLY to the Political Science Dept. Office by the date on the bottom of the form.
  4. Please include a PHOTOGRAPH or informal SNAPSHOT of yourself with the application. (The photo is for identification purposes; it helps the directors remember faces and names.)
  5. A TRANSCRIPT , which completes the student application file, will be requested by the Political Science Department. Applicants need do nothing but supply a student identificationnumber on the application form.
  6. Students should expect to be called for a brief PERSONAL INTERVIEW as part of the application process.
  7. It is the responsibility of each applicant to see that all materials for the application file are returned to the Political Science Dept. (4th Willis). Professors Grow and Montero cannot act on any file that is incomplete.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  1. Students will be advised about their admission before pre-registration begins in May, 2000.
  2. Students must secure their own PASSPORTS. Applications are available in the Office of Off-Campus Studies. The passport application form describes the documents needed for proof of citizenship and proof of identity. You will need the passport before you can apply for a visa to enter China (see below).
  3. VISAS are required for entry into China. Applications and instructions will be sent from the Political Science Department office. Anyone who is not a U.S. citizen should check carefully with a Chinese consulate to see if different procedures are necessary.
