Changes In Hemolymph During M. sexta Development

HINTS for SDS-PAGE Analysis of Manduca sexta Hemolymph Proteins

  • We typically pour the separating gel for the students and let them pour the stacking gel during the lab period. If time is an issue, then we also pour the stacking gel (letting the students do this takes about 45 minutes).

  • We have also successfully poured gels without degassing the acrylamide solutions.

  • Ethanol may be substituted for the methanol in the destaining solutions.

  • Used destain may be recycled by mixing it with activated charcoal.
